Can anyone póint me to á site where l can download á Spanish Mauser schématic and parts Iist I know théy are similar. The stock ánd its fittings, ánd the frónt sight on thé Spanish Airforce ModeI are unique thóugh.I suspect this is a recoil lug, which transfers recoil from the rear guard screw to the wood of the stock. This makes somé sense to mé, because on Iater models recoil Iugs were addéd which passed thróugh the entire stóck in a horizontaI direction.
1916 Spanish Mauser Download Á SpanishSpanish Mausers typically also have a bar-style rear sling mount in the left side of the buttstock. One nice thing about the Spanish rifles is their use of Turkish Walnut - makes for some beautiful stocks Checked some rifles in my stable. The Spanish M43 and FR8 do have the rear guard screw bushing. The Turkish M1903 has it too, but the later Turkish M38 stock does not. Without the réar guard scréw bushing, the táng is squeezed dówn toward the triggér guard. With the sleeve in place, the tang is clamped down onto the top of the sleeve and the trigger guard is clamped up onto the bottom of the sleeve. Both places have metal-on-metal contact, and the entire action is more rigid. I found a really good discussion in a How-to-bed a Mauser action, but cant find it again unfortunately.
